Well went out today, Started at Lake Kegonsa, and went up
the Yahara river. We seen one carp, on the run and no more. We decided
to go up to a place on the Yahara north of Madison where a friend was
fishing the other day, and mentioned he had seen several carp. |

The upper most arrow is where we ended up. The middle arrow
is where we launched, and the lowest arrow is where we started the morning
out. |

This is a shot of the Yahara looking North east. It widens
out here, and is about 2-3 foot with a thick mud bottom. The visibility
into the water was about 6" max. |
|
The first trip we learned that in water conditions like
these it's darn hard to see any fish. I was wearing my yellow shooting
glasses with polarized clip on's. This enabled me to just barely make
out the silhouette of a fish. I shot maybe 10 times today and did not
knock the scales off anything. Next time out, I will have some type of
side shields on the stems of my glasses, and a hat with a bill. Without
these even when the sun is directly behind you, it reflects off of your
face, and onto the inside of the glasses lens. |

The captain of the boat, Mitch, This was on lake Mendota,
and was the water ever clear, you could see the bottom in 20 foot of water.
We saw a whole school of maybe 20-30 2-3 foot long carp swimming toward
shore, on the return trip, The water temperature was about 53 degrees
on the lake, and it was around 60 degrees on the river |
